As time goes on, every new update will have more content and bug fixes, but also will still have the new culture stuff, meaning the solution becomes progressively worse. At current, 1.4 is more or less just 1.5 without the culture changes (mostly), but there is other content in it. Not because it's telling them to just reasonably modify the game to a state they prefer, but more so because the solution is not future proofed. I honestly think this is bad advice (telling them to play 1.4 instead of 1.5). I would probably support the argument that that pillar in particular should have some way of being altered in the base game, even if no other culture aspects could be. The culture system in general works without the DLC, and adds some much needed flavor and variety, but there is a valid point about gender roles being split between culture and faith leading to issues for non-DLC holders. I do agree, however, that the inability to change martial pillars is. Mainly because it's a core part of PDX's business model, which is why they are able to both update the game constantly and give it lots of new content. I don't generally agree with their argument though. ![]() less than ideal.Ĭlick to expand.I honestly think this is bad advice (telling them to play 1.4 instead of 1.5). Right now, the closest to a solution I can come up with is editing the game files mid-campaign to "fix" a problem that shouldn't be there to begin with, which is. Locking cultural reformation behind a dlc pricetag doesn't make any sense, when the new cultural system already changed something fundamental about how the game works from the ground up. Which leads to my question here: Is there any way to alter cultural pillars without the dlc? I intend to establish equal martial rights for my swedish culture after reforming the asatrú to have equal gender laws, but appears none of the traditions will budge that wretched pillar. The more I check up on the new cultural system, however, the more problems I notice with trying to change a culture without first buying the overpriced royal court dlc.
